Skill 11: Sight Words: I, see, like, is, a














Goal: The student will read and spell basic sight words: I, see, like, is, a

Sight Word Instructional Learning Strategy (Ray Reutzel)
1. See the word - like
2. Say the word - "like"
3. Spell the word - "l-i-k-e"
4. Visualize the word (Take a picture in your mind) "like"
5. Cover the word
6. Verbally spell the word
7. Uncover and check the word
8. Look at the word again and verbally spell the word
9. Cover the word
10. Write the word
11. Uncover and check the word
12. cut up, mix and manipulate letters of the word to spell the word (2-3 times) checking after each time.
13. Find the word in text in a book, wall chart, newspaper, etc.
14. Teacher (parent) dictates the word
15. Student writes the word
